Edition of 75.Percy Albee was an excellent etcher as seen in these two examples. Ones a French scene and the other an American scene. He specifically went to Paris to concentrate on his printmaking in 1928. Arriving in the French capital in April of 1928, Percy Albee and his wife Grace and their 5 boys quickly headed off to the French countryside for a summer holiday setting up a home base in Cannes. From sketches during this trip Albee produced a number of etchings such as this image of life in a charming French town and refined his printmaking technique. Percy continued with his printmaking, and by the autumn of 1928 joined an independent lithography studio on the Ile de la Cite. Percy enjoyed the daily fellowship of working with other artists and advancing his lithography technique. Percy Frederick Albee studied at the Pennsylvania Academy and The Rhode Island School of Design. Albee’s work was widely exhibited both here and abroad and is held by numerous institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and The National Gallery of Art, Washington, D. C. He served as President of the Salmagundi Club in New York City from 1948 – 1952 and a member of its board of directors until his death.
