19TH C O/C TROMPE L'OEIL Strongly ATTRIBUTED TO FRANCESCO ALEGIANI. ALEGIANI in several works used some of these exact subjects in his other works, but this is one of the most complicated and finest examples. Alegiani was Active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Francesco Alegiani developed a distinct style in producing genre scenes employing optical illusion to create false depth with three-dimensional layering while also exploring texture and light manipulation. Descended in the family of Charles Willing. WILLING was a Philadelphia merchant, trader, TWICE Mayor of Philadelphia,(1749-1754) AND CO-DEVELOPED WILLINGTON, DELAWARE N/K/A WILMINGTON. His wife's grandfather, Edward Shippen, and his eldest son, Thomas Willing, also served as mayors of Philadelphia. Thomas was also a Delegate to the Continental Congress from Pennsylvania. His son James Willing was a representative of the American Continental Congress and led a military expedition during the American War of Independence known as the Willing Expedition.
