Description
VIRGINIA FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY BUTLER'S DESK, the top with banding and stringing to the edges, above four drawers with oval stringing and original oval brasses, the top drawer with fold-down front revealing an interior fitted with a central prospect and flanked by three drawers and four cubby holes to each side, raised on flaring French feet flanking a scalloped skirt. Poplar, yellow pine, and ash secondary woods. Retains an old refinished surface. Probably Richmond/Petersburg area. Circa 1810. 43 1/2" H, 43" x 21".
