Near East, Persia, Safavid dynasty, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A wonderful carnelian intaglio featuring the right-facing figure of a winged ibex standing on 4 claw-like feet with a prominent mane and tall, curved horns. Size of intaglio: 1.2" L x 0.9" H (3 cm x 2.3 cm); of Riker box: 3.1" L x 1" W x 2.6" H (7.9 cm x 2.5 cm x 6.6 cm)
