Censer. China, Jiaqing period, ca. 1800.
Bronze and cloisonné enamel.
With marks of use.
Measurements: 10 x 13 x 8 cm.
Cylindrical censer covered with cloisonné enamel, a technique which consists of depositing the vitreous paste of the enamel in compartments formed by metal sheets which, in relief, make up the silhouette of the design. It stands on poly-lobed legs that raise the piece in height and has a lid that culminates in the rounded figure of a Foo's dog. The sides are decorated with appliqués that act as handles.
