Description
A light green painted "Chatsworth Carpenters" "House & Garden" design Windsor garden bench. The bench with pierced diaper patterned back centering an openwork carved scallop shell, scroll form serpentine arm supports, pierced rectangular seat, arched skirt on tapering legs ending in block feet. Chatsworth Carpenters was established in 1981 by the Duchess of Devonshire in association with David Mlinaric. Some of Mlinaric's clients include Lord Rothschild, Mick Jagger and The National Gallery London. Some of the designs are from J. P. White's catalog of 1912 while others are from existing seats in the Garden at Chatsworth. Height 43 1/2" Width 76" Depth 22"
Condition
The bench has trim attached beneath the seat to the frame. It is purely decorative and is not easily visible unless you get down on the ground. The trim on the right side of the bench is detached and rotted. The trim on the left side of the back is partially detached and rotted on the corner. New pictures updated to lot 9/24/23.
