Imported U.S. Model 1860-style Cavalry Officer's Sword and Scabbard,
Henry Boker, Solingen, c. 1862-65.
Brass hilt with cast eagle and stars on the counter-guard, two foliate decorated branches connecting to the knuckle bow and shield and foliate molded pommel, black leather covered grip with twisted brass wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip, single narrow and single wide fuller, etched foliate scroll, eagle, and US decoration, the ricasso marked 'HENRY BOKER/SOLINGEN'; iron scabbard with two suspension rings.
Blade lg. 34 1/2, overall lg. 40 /8 in.

Condition

Hilt toned to deep yellow, knuckle bow is bent, loss to leather at top of grip; blade has scattered gray mottling; scabbard is toned to dark brown and has scattered dents, blade fits tightly into the scabbard perhaps due to dents.
