清 18-19世紀 罕見大型粉彩雕瓷十八羅漢瓶棒槌瓶一對

This rare vase pair is finely decorated in relief with a panoramic view of the Eighteen Arhats with different expressions and movements. The fine relief craftsmanship was a pinnacle creation of the Chinese porcelain industry in the mid-Qing Dynasty. This practice was influenced by traditional Chinese stone carvings and bamboo carvings, and was also related to the influx of Western sculptures into the Qing Palace. There is no second example of famille rose relief moulded vase similar to this pair. For similar 'eighteen luohan' theme, compare the imperial famille rose 'eighteen luohan' vase, Lot 17, sold in Sotheby's London, May 2015 https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2018/important-chinese-art- l18210/lot.17.html

Condition:Lot 1082: Both vases are firmly attached to the zitan stand, with the bases of both vases drilled and not able to be examined. Gilding loss on the both vases rims, one has a minor repair and the other has two shallow chips. Some enamel wear is present on the decorations, but there are no signs of hairline cracks or loss on the body of either vase (checked under UV-light). There is minor wear and loss to the inlays on the zitan base. One of the bowls on top of the lamp has been extensively repaired, while the other bowl is in good condition.
