Ancient Near East, Sassanian (also Sasanian, Sassanid) Empire, ca. 2nd to 5th century CE. A fine gathering of 5 hand-carved stone stamp seals from the ancient Sassanian Empire. First is a carnelian seal deeply incised with geometric pattern. Next, dark brown hematite with humped bull decoration. Next, a white quartz seal with incised floral decoration; then another carnelian with equine, and finally a small agate with small standing figure. Size of largest: .625" W x .5" H (1.6 cm x 1.3 cm)
