Description
An American Portrait Miniature of Edmund J. Lee (Virginia, 1772-1843). Watercolor, unsigned. Framed in a locket case with woven hair to reverse.
Lee served as mayor of Alexandria, Virginia from March 1815-March 1818.
Together with three portrait miniatures of ladies, first half 19th century. (4)
Dimensions: Sight dimensions range from 2 x 2in to 2 3/4 x 2 1/8in.
This lot comes from an Upper West Side, New York City collection that will be featured in a short lecture by noted specialist of portrait miniatures, Elle Shushan. Condition
Not examined out of the frames. Each portrait appears to be in generally good condition overall. The frames and locket cases with typical marks, wear, toning and darkening.
