Robert Treat Paine autographed 1782 Colonial American document (ADS). A true bill dated October 1, 1782, with R. T. Paine (Signer of the Declaration of Independence) signing as attorney for the Republic.
The document, fully penned by Paine reads In full: "At the Court of The General Sessions of the Peace Began & Holden at Taunton in the County of Bristol on the 2nd Tuesday of September in the Year of our Lord 1782. The jurors for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts upon their oaths present that Lydia Simmon of Dighton in the county of Bristol Spinster on the 1st day of August AD 1781 at Dighton aforesaid unlawfully did commit fornication with a man to the jurors unknown by means whereof the sd Lydia was afterwards delivered of a bastard child born of her body against the peace and the laws of the Commonwealth in such case made and provided, R.T. Paine, Atty. per Repub."

Robert Treat Paine (March 11, 1731 – May 11, 1814) was a lawyer, politician, and Founding Father of the United States who signed the Continental Association and Declaration of Independence as a representative of Massachusetts. He served as the state's first attorney general and as an associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the state's highest court.
