THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSENâ€¦ WITH EIGHTEEN ILLUSTRATIONS PRINTED IN COLOURS FROM ORIGINAL DESIGNS BY A. BICHARD. London: Frederick Warne, [ca. 1878.] 12.75" x 9". With 18 color plates. Bound in original cloth stamped in gilt. ******** This copy with curious inscription to ffe, "Mrs. Hooper, with lover from his legal descendant, William(?) H, Baron Munchausen. Christmas/85." The character of Baron Munchausen was loosely based upon Hieronymus Karl Friedrich, Freiherr von Munchhausen. The plates by Adolphe Alphonse Bichard are quite remarkable.

Condition

Frontis and it's guard leaf detached, along with one other blank leaf near end. Mostly clean, some occasional very light foxing or similar minor blemishes. Front cover with small stain and rear cover with very minor soiling but cloth binding in nice condition overall.
