19th c. Green Painted Pine Chest, having a molded edge single plank lid painted "This is Percy's Trunk. Get Out.", with original hinges, becket bracket, mounted on wheels, 19 1/2" high, 49 1/2" x 20 1/2". Old repairs. Percival Proctor Baxter (1876-1969) served terms in the Maine State Senate, Maine House of Representatives and was elected the 53rd governor of the State of Maine (1921-1925). He also donated significant land for public use, including Baxter State Park (in Piscataquis County), Baxter Woods (in Portland), and Mackworth Island State Park (in Falmouth). From the estate of Percival P. Baxter. Descended through the family.
