West Point was the first military encampment along the Hudson River, and the current work shows a northward view. J.H. Gilman painted two versions of this scene; the other is in the collection of West Point.

Framed: 21 3/4 x 27 1/2 inches.

In overall good and stable condition, with even craquelure throughout. Frame abrasions to perimeter, most apparent to lower edge and upper left corner. Few areas of inpainting to sky visible under UV light examination, along with areas of old varnish and/or adhesives from the relining process.
