Late Dynastic Period, ca. 664-332 BC.A bronze figure of Osiris in mummiform pose, wearing an atef crown with ostrich feathers symbolising kingship in the afterlife. Osiris, a key god in ancient Egypt, was linked to male fertility and was the first Pharaoh. In the afterlife, Osiris ruled as God of the dead, as indicated by the crook and flail symbols. This item comes with a custom-made stand. Size: L:250mm / W:80mm ; 1.15kg Provenance: Property of a London gentleman; formerly in the private collection of Mr. R.A.; British art Market 1990s.
