Description
Inlaid German Kalliope Single Comb Disc Music Box, 19th c., the inlaid with "Kalliope," the inside of the lid with a period paper landscape scene with one disc and crank, running, Disc- Dia.- 13 in.; Box- H.- 7 1/2 in., W.- 15 7/8 in., D.- 15 in. Provenance: The Durand Estate, Plaquemine (Iberville Parish), Louisiana.
Condition
Unusual offering. Outer case with veneer losses, toning to finish and some moisture in finish. In working condition The mechanics wind and engage, on and off. Comb now lacking two teeth. The rollers over the drive sprocket are lacking. Damper rails are intact. One of the rollers on the disc hold down is lacking; the other three have small losses. Abrasion and wear to interior artwork. One musical disc present. Please see additional photos and/or have evaluated in-person.
