Impressionist depiction of a boat pulled ashore with a vast city in the background lit by vibrant red early morning light. Nicholson was an apprentice to Daniel Woodruff in Salem and later Job F. Bray in Philadelphia. He pursued informal studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia before furthering his education in England and France. Nicholson was an associate member of Northwest Gallery of American Art with his works being in numerous private collections and museums.
