Description

New Jersey, Pennsylvania,1832-1912
Impressionist depiction of sailing vessels full of sailors docked beside a harbor town. Nicholson was an apprentice to Daniel Woodruff in Salem and later Job F. Bray in Philadelphia. He pursued informal studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia before furthering his education in England and France. Nicholson was an associate member of Northwest Gallery of American Art with his works being in numerous private collections and museums.
