Three panel mid century circa 1970 wooden collage sculpture signed on back by Bernard Langlais of Cushing, Maine, (1921 -1977) personally commissioned by Leona Helmsley in the early ‘70s containing referrences to Pittsburg, PA Sports, Industry and Pop Culture of the era. Langlais was born in Old Town, Maine and later resided and sculpted in Cushing, Maine. This three panel, three dimensional wall sculpture was displayed as a permanent feature in Leona Helmsleys hotel in 1970 then named Rivers Three Harley of Pittsburgh at 609 Rodi Rd Penn Hills just outside of Pittsburg PA in the ‘70s which is now operating as The Comfort Inn. Media coverage concerning the provenance of this piece and Pittsburgh can still be found via search on Google. This is a one of a kind large piece! Sculptures by Bernard Langlais have sold at Christies and Sothebys NY but they are not as large or prominent as this three panel piece. The dimensions of each side panel are 6 ft X 5 ft, the middle panel is 42”X6 ft. In total this piece displays at 13.5 feet wide by 6 feet high, a truly stunning piece for the exquisite collector, investor or would be a great addition to an open residential space or commercial establishment
