Description
The lot features an Indian brain tanned buckskin double sided beadwork drop from a toamhawk or war club attributed to the Lakota / Oglala Sioux of the Northern Plains. The piece is of a large size showing an Indian brain tanned buckskin construction with sinew and thread sewing covered in lazy stitched geometric beadwork in classic Lakota, Oglala Sioux patterns. The beadwork shows a chalk whtie background with pattern in red, blue, cobalt, greasy yellow and shows maltese crosses, railroad track bands, and triangle tipi designs with a downward pointed arrow. The top shows Indian hide ties and the bottom Indian tanned hide fringes with a twisted finish. Well kept vintage piece from the 20th Century. Measures overall 25"L with an additional 14"L top tie by 5.5"W.
