An unusual transitional federal side chair with rounded arms, cane seat, turned legs and stretchers with rectangular shaped back having vertical and painted slats with carved drapes. The chair in original paint with painted designs of bell flower and leaves, circa 1820-40. Minor paint wear and overall good condition. Measures 24 1/2"W x 21"D x 36 1/4"H x 18 1/2" seat height. Provenance: From the Dolores Murphy estate, Clinton Corners NY.
