Description
The majority of “Hanoverian” mid-rib form, with some having shell or scroll ends, and all with drop, shell, foliate motif or rat-tail to bowl backs, comprising a set of four spoons by Johannes Frederick Cluett (1700-?), Kingston, Schenectady, and Albany, NY, engraved with monogram, “FVDB," marked; a set of three spoons by William Gilbert (before 1746-1832), New York, NY, engraved with monogram, “HH,” marked; a pair of spoons by James Gilbert Roe (1744-1815), Kingston, NY, engraved with monogram, “DP/ CH,” marked; four spoons by Ephraim Brasher (1744- c. 1810), New York, NY, each engraved respectively with monograms, “EP,” “MM,” “ML,” and “HS,” all marked; a spoon by Joseph W.
