Description
Western Europe, probably Italy, Neoclassical period, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. A beautiful glass cameo decorated with Classical imagery on both sides and set in a modern gold pendant on a modern strand to be wearable. Rendered in the opaque hues of white on powder blue, the cameo displays the image of a nude male chasing a stag on one side and a winged victory in a chariot beside a soldier who is being crowned by another figure on the other. A lovely piece of wearable history! Size of pendant: 0.7" W x 0.8" H (1.8 cm x 2 cm); of cameo: 0.6" W x 0.5" H (1.5 cm x 1.3 cm); of strand: 22" L (55.9 cm); quality of gold: 48.46% (equivalent to over 11 karats)
