RUSSIAN COSMONAUTS: An excellent vintage signed 7.5 x 5.5 photograph by each of the first eleven Russian cosmonauts in space comprising Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968; the first human to journey into outer space, travelling on Vostok 1, 12th April 1961), Gherman Titov (1935-2000; Vostok 2, 6th – 7th August 1961), Andriyan Nikolayev (1929-2004; Vostok 3, 11th – 15th August 1962), Pavel Popovich (1930-2009; Vostok 4, 12th -15th August 1962), Valery Bykovsky (1934-2019; Vostok 5, 14th – 19th June 1963), Valentina Tereshkova (1937- , the first woman ever to fly in space, travelling on Vostok 6, 16th – 19th June 1963), Vladimir Komarov (1927-1967; Voskhod 1, 12th October 1964), Konstantin Feokistov (1926-2009; Voskhod 1, 12th October 1964), Boris Yegorov (1937-1994; Voskhod 1, 12th October 1964), Pavel Belyayev (1925-1970; Voskhod 2, 18th March 1965) and Alexei Leonov (1934-2019; the first person to conduct a spacewalk, Voskhod 2, 18th March 1965). The image depicts the cosmonauts standing outdoors together in two rows in July 1965, most wearing their uniforms and each with their Hero of the Soviet Union (on the left breast) and Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR decorations (on the right breast). Signed by each in bold black and blue inks with their names alone to the lower white border. About EX
An historic and rare signed photograph; by the time that the twelfth cosmonaut, Georgy Beregovoy, flew in space in 1968 Gagarin and Komarov were both dead.
