A Victorian 1831 Pattern General Officer's Mameluke-Hilted Sabre
Retailed By Manton & Co., Calcutta, Circa 1875
Of regulation pattern, the blade etched over both sides with crowned cypher, crossed sword and baton between foliage, and scrolling foliage, the forte on one side with retailer's details in capitals, and brass-mounted hilt with ivory grip-scales (one repaired), in its original brass scabbard with suspension rings; together with two 1897 pattern infantry officer's swords, each of regulation pattern, one with etched blade (worn, the other with surface rust, both grips with loss of fishskin); and a steel scabbard for an 1886 pattern cavalry trooper's sword (polished bright) (4)
