Quite rare DRP K98 bayonet, 10 in. blade and 15 in. overall, with wooden grip, Maker marked on the ricasso ‘PAUL WEYERSBURG & CO. SOLINGEN’, with the number ‘1373’ on the reverse ricasso and ‘DRP’ for Deutsches Reichs Postschutz, a paramilitary unit of Reichspost tasked to mission to protect post office installations from armed attacks. Approx. 90% of the bluing to the blade remains intact, though regrettably, the tip is broken. Housed within fine black anodized scabbard with nonmatching serial number ‘9371’. Brown leather frog is also present. Overall a very nice example of a rarely seen blade.
