MITCHELL & TYLER, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA MADE / RETAILED STERLING FORKS AND COIN SILVER SERVING UTENSILS, LOT OF EIGHT, each piece having a thread fiddle handle with pointed shoulders, comprising a set of six sterling silver luncheon / dessert forks by or retailed by Mitchell & Tyler with engraved "B" initials, and two coin silver serving utensils by William Gale & Son of New York City, NY (active 1850-1853;1854-1857; and 1863-1866) of a pair of sugar tongs with engraved "A" initial, and a butter knife with engraved "MA" initials. Each piece with "MITCHELL & TYLER" maker's or retailer's mark for the partnership between Samuel P. Mitchell and John H. Tyler of Richmond, VA (active 1845-1866); forks also with "STERLING" and "5" or "6" marks; and the two serving utensils also with "G&S" maker's marks and "1850" or "1852" date marks. Total weight: 13.570 ozt. Mid 19th century. 6 3/4" to 7 3/8" LOA.

Condition
Very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks, slight bending, and worn spots to raised decoration and/or engraving; sugar tongs with a few minute/minor dents to grips; butter knife with a small dent to tip of blade.
