Four Early Persian Glazed Pottery Oil Lamps, c. 12th-13th Century AD. Iran, Rhages area or Nishapur. A group of four Islamic pottery oil lamps, each with green-blue glaze. Two oil lamps with long stem, drip pan and handle, pinched cup for wick (taller - 5 1/2" h, smaller - 4 1/4" h). Small oil lamp with globular body, green glaze with iridescent patina, 4 1/8" L. And a stemmed oil lamp with a long nozzle, drip pan, and vase-form reserve, some residual burned oil in drip pan and nozzle. 5 1/4" h. Condition: Signs of wear commensurate with significant age and use. Provenance: Private Boca Raton, FL Collection, acquired in Paris, France between 1965 and 1968 and brought to the United States in 1969. Authenticated in 1968 by Gerard Levy, 17 Rue de Beune, Paris.
