Roman North African Terracotta Oil Lamp w/ Erotic Scene, C. 100 BC - 200 AD - An ancient Roman terracotta oil lamp with brown slipped surface. Erotic scene of two figures on central discus, one fill hole below scene. Voluted nozzle with rounded angular tip. Loss to handle. 1 1/8" h x 4" l x 2 3/4" w. Condition: Signs of wear and use commensurate with significant age. Provenance: Private Boca Raton, FL Collection, acquired in Paris, France between 1965 and 1968 and brought to the United States in 1969. Authenticated in 1968 by Gerard Levy, 17 Rue de Beune, Paris.
