An Italian carved marble bust of the head of a classical male youth
in the Renaissance taste, probably 19th century
the sitter with curling hair looking slightly to sinister, mounted on later square polished marble plinth, the head 32cm high, the base 15.5cm high

In good decorative condition, the head with what appears to be a section missing from the top of the curls and a section to the left hand top of the head appearing to be lacking, the back also with a section to the back of the head and the neck flattened, possibly intentionally, there is also a section of re-working from the section missing to the top of the head on one side, down to the base of the neck, there are other small chips and a scratch to the nose, and to the curls which come through to a lighter colour as the surface is very yellowed, the later base with some inherent fissures and cracks, and some losses to the edges, and with dirt and dust to the crevices of the head and base.
