Description
Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Amlash culture, ca. late 3rd to early 2nd millennium BCE. A hand-built and stone burnished pottery pitcher with a broad, spherical body supported by a trio of tab-shaped feet. The shoulder is decorated with a raised, notched band that continues along the top of the handle, and etched beneath the handle is a brief series of concentric triangular emanations. Above the body is a broad spout with a flared rim useful for pouring the contents held inside. Size: 7.8" Diameter x 12.1" H (19.8 cm x 30.7 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.
Provenance: Private Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA collection, via inheritance; Leota Furlong Agett Persian Pottery collection, acquired in Tehran, Iran in the early 1960s

Condition
Minor abrasions and pitting, with light fading to surface coloration, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to form and presentation. TL drill holes on base and beside handle terminal.
