Description
Betty Tafoya (American, 1933-1988). A lovely blackware pot with a deeply incised geometric design around the exterior and polished to a high luster. The underside is signed "Betty Tafoya / Santa Clara Pueblo Espanola, New / Mexico." Betty Tafoya was married to Lee Tafoya (1926 -1996) a Native American potter, and Betty was one of a small handful of non-Native potters to learn traditional Puebloan pottery, often collaborating with her husband who was the son of famed Margaret Tafoya (1904-2001). Size: 8.5" Diameter x 4.5" H (21.6 cm x 11.4 cm)

Provenance: private British Columbia, Canada collection, gifted from aunt in Tucson, Arizona, USA, acquired prior to 1994
