Robert Aguilar (Native American, Santo Domino Pueblo, b. 1968) ca. late 20th to 21st century CE. A pretty black-on-black wedding vase, handmade by Robert Aguilar. The surface is polished to a bright luster and then a slip is applied which dries matte, with a slightly rough texture to create the black-on-black patterning. Born into a family renowned for their pottery, Santo Domingo potter Robert Aguilar has been actively hand coiling in the Pueblo and Aguilar family tradition since the 1970s, utilizing natural clays, mineral paints, and pit firing methods. The underside is signed by the artist and "SDP" for Santo Domingo Pueblo. Size: 6.75" L x 5" W x 9.5" H (17.1 cm x 12.7 cm x 24.1 cm)
