Description
Native American, New Mexico, San Felipe Pueblo, 1993. Wonderful pottery "seed" jar that obviously caught the eye of judges at the 1993 New Mexico State Fair. Globular jar with deep relief ridges and small opening at top covered in lustrous orange micaceous slip. Signed on base "Hubert Candelario, San Felipe, NM 1993." Awarded blue ribbon First Premium and comes with original ribbon. Size: 7" W x 5.5" H (17.8 cm x 14 cm)
Competition among Native American artists and potters in New Mexico is a serious business that can come with large rewards.
