Description

1995 BMW E38 740i Chassis no. WBAGF510X0DG01367 • Royal provenance • 12,510 kilometres • Only 2 owners from new * Please note that this car will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Germany. Long established as BMW's luxury flagship model, the third iteration arrived in 1994 with the E38 model designation, featuring both petrol and turbo-diesel engines, spanning 6, 8 and 12 cylinders and displacements ranging from 2.8 to 5.4 litres. Always designed to showcase the best and latest technologies in an unspoken competition with Mercedes-Benz and their S Class models, the E38 introduced curtain airbags and, for the first time in Europe, satellite navigation. It was also the first BMW that could be specified from new with a TV. The E38's design evolved through the inputs of three designers and Design Directors - Claus Luthe, Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle and Boyke Boyer, with the latter's design providing much of what ultimately found its way onto the production line. The E38 740i featured the 4.0 litre M60B40 V8 from 1994 to 1996, at which time it was replaced by the 4.4 litre M62B44 V8. Both engines produced the same amount of power, but the 4.4 litre generated more torque. Some 88,000 E38 740is had been built by the time production ended in 2001. The very low-kilometres car is 'Kaschmir' gold in colour with a black leather interior. It was delivered new to BMW in Geneva for its first owner, Sheikh Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz. He kept this chauffeur-driven car until 2020 when it was bought by its second owner, the current vendor. It was delivered with most of the options boxes ticked, including catalyzer deletion from new. It has the rare 6-speed manual gearbox, copies of the Swiss registration documents, and its original German registration document. While in the ownership of the Sheik the car was inspected every 300kms and the chauffeur kept a meticulous record of the car's movements. There are many invoices on file. Prior to the sale, the car has received a complete dry ice cleaning of the underside, a complete detailing with a wax protection applied and a complete ceramic coating.
