East Asia, China, late Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful leaded brass vase presenting a sizeable form with a thick rim, a squat neck, and an inverted piriform body atop a flared foot. A thick layer of enameled cloisonne adorns the body of the vessel and creates a whimsical scene of chrysanthemums, vines, leaves, and petals, all within 2 slender bands of black-and-white zigzags. A pair of taotie masks support a pair of ring handles along the shoulder. Size: 9.4" Diameter x 14.375" H (23.9 cm x 36.5 cm)
Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection, acquired between 1964 to mid-1990s

Condition
Minor abrasions and nicks, with small chips to enameled cloisonne in scattered areas, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to enamel coloration.
