Description
(1869 - 1940) British Prime Minister best known for his appeasement foreign policy, and in particular for his signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938, conceding the Sudetenland region and declaring that he had won 'peace for our time'. The next year, Germany invaded Poland, and Chamberlain led Britain through the first eight months of the conflict before being replaced by Winston Churchill. Good content T.L.S. as Minister of Health on his 37 Eaton Square letterhead, 1p. 4to., June 15. 1929 to a lady who was apparently working for his party's election. In part: '...I am going to ask you to accept the enclosed cheque from me, as a little token of appreciation of your wonderful work during the recent Election...it was entirely a labour of love on your part. This makes it all the more agreeable to me, as well as valuable for its purpose: but I know it was a considerable strain upon you physically...'. Staple holes at upper-left corner, folds, very good.
