Carol Summers
New York, California,1925 - 2016
Titled "Fuji," depicts a polychromatic abstract landscape of Mt. Fuji erupting with rainbows. Summers studied at Bard College and at the Art Students League of New York as well as under Steven Hirsh and Louis Schanker. He, along with fellow artist Leonard Baskin, pioneered monumental woodcuts. While Baskin used thick black lines and somber imagery, Summers used bold colors and was usually based on landscapes.
