Description
This is a pair of switchmans lanterns. The first is an Adlake Reliable from the New York Chicago and St Louis RR, also known as the Nickel Plate Road. Cast on the rim with N.Y.C & ST.L. R.R. on the rim, it has a clear plain Corning CNX cast globe that has red paint on it and a vertical crack. Replacement burner and fount. Patents 1908, 1901, 1911, 1912, and 1913. The second lantern is an Armspear model from the Erie Railroad. It is cast on the rim with ERIE.R.R. Has a clear cast Corning CNX globe with E.R.R. Co. cast on the front and MADE IN U.S.A. on the back. Replacement burner and fount. Patent dates on the side of the fount holder of 1910 and 1913. Was painted silver at one point in its life, but could be stripped to reveal original metal and make it a very attractive piece!
