Description
Emma Lewis-Mitchell (Native American, Acoma Pueblo, 1931 to 2013) ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A lovely hand made pottery jar with a matching lid painted with thin radiating lines in geometric patterns. The base is signed by the artist with "Acoma, N.M." Emma Lewis is from a family of skilled potters, she was the daughter of Lucy M. Lewis (1895 -1992) who popularized the fineline painting pattern in Acoma pottery. Much like her mother, Emma Lewis' designs were inspired by the Mimbres-style pottery of her Ancestral Puebloan people, using traditional coiling methods like many generations of Pueblo potters before her. Size: 4.75" Diameter x 5.25" H (12.1 cm x 13.3 cm)
