Description
An antique Japanese Satsuma pottery teapot. Late Meiji era, before 1912. Squat round tripod piece with a movable wicker handle. The item is decorated with cherry blossoms. Gilt accents. Fine detail work. Hallmark Genzan on the bottom. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
