Description
Late 19th Century presentation sword by English maker Rob Mole and Sons. Hilt with reticulated knuckle guard, bird head pommel, shagreen grip with twist wire. Etched 35.5" blade, marked at ricasso " Rob Mole & Sons, Birmingham, Makers to the War and India Offices". Foliate scroll etched blade, center presentation " Presented to the Quarter Master McCreath, by the Officers , NCO, and Troopers of the QORGYC (Queens's Own Royal Glasgow Yeomanry Cavalry), in his ceasing to be an active member of the Regiment after 30 years of service, June 1888". Overall 41.25" long, no scabbard. Condition: Toning and pepper pitting to blade, wear to grip.
