A presentation-grade Civil War Model 1850 Field Officer's sword with fancy engraved US blade signed W. Horstmann & Sons Phila w/crown mark. Edge of blade stamped IRON PROOF. Brass hand guard has openwork US and the foliate engraved brass grip appears to be silver plated. Fancy bronze and metal (partial) scabbard of 28.25 in long has portrait of G. Washington and embossed military motif with eagle. Overall sword length 37.5 in, blade 31.5 inches. Blade has some surface discoloration.
