Description

2 (Two) German novelty dog clocks: (1) Mayer animated pug timepiece, the cast iron case in the form of a dog with glass eyes, panting tongue and wagging tail, his side with arabic numeral white enamel dial, c1890; (2) Oswald animated dog timepiece with moving eyes, carved wood case, alarm, and thirty hour time only movement, c1950

Condition

(1) the Mayer case in good condition with alarm, original movement not ticking and in need of service, however tail and tongue remain properly connected and appear likely to function, missing its original base, 5.5in x 6in x 2in; (2) Oswald wooden case is aged with some dirt and mildew trapped in the crevices of the carving and the edges of the glass eyes, bottom of case is stamped and contains some faint writing, original movement ticks for a short period and will need servicing, 4.5in x 6in x 3.5in, circa 1890, 1950
