Majolica Vase c.1880, 28", designed by Paul Comolera, formed as a strutting rooster afront a vase formed of wheat, all upon an earthy ground pedestal, inscribed P. Comolera. Paul Comolera (French) was one of the most celebrated 19th century animalier sculptors. He was the greatest designer of Majolica animal and bird pieces including the celebrated majolica tour de force, the 5ft Minton Majolica Peacock.
