Description
South America, Bolivia, Aymara people, Colonial Period, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A hand-carved wood bowl with a stylized bull carved into the center- all from a single piece of wood. Traditionally marriage bowls with pairs of yoked oxen are used during weddings to collect money for the newlyweds or to toast with chicha (corn beer). Size: 8.5" Diameter x 3" H (21.6 cm x 7.6 cm)

Old wear and chips to rim and handles, that are soft and smooth with age. Old inactive insect holes on the base. Dark and dried viscous patina throughout.
