BIOGRAPHY:
Louise Menard was born in Paris on November 5, 18662. She is the daughter of the painter Rene Joseph Menard, secretary of the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, and of Cecile Charlotte Colas. Her brother Rene Menard (1862-1930) also became a painter and represented her in pastel in 1897.In May 1887, Louise Menard marries a doctor, Emile-Marie Galtier-Boissiere. They have a daughter Suzanne (1888-1962) and a son Jean (1891-1966).Louise Galtier-Boissiere paints genre scenes and still lifes, decorative flower panels and interiors. She joined the Salon de la Societe nationale des beaux-arts in Paris in 1906. Louise Galtier-Boissiere died in Paris on December 31, 1957. The works of Louise Galtier-Boissiere are preserved in the museums of Beaune, Cognac, Nantes and Rouen.
