The Connecticut Courant, dated Oct 22,1787 being number 1187, this unbound example comes mounted in an ornate black double sided glass frame, reporting on the debates of the Constitutional Convention, also provides a full list of delegates, in Hartford, to vote for the ratification of the new Federal Constitution which was adopted just one month before on September, 17, 1787. Also contains two full pages plus of advertisements. Important content leading up the ratification of the Constitution of the states of which Connecticut did ratify 3 months later on January 9th 1788 making Connecticut the fifth state to ratify the Constitution. One known copy of this paper resides at the Jonathan Krause Rare Newspaper and Magazine Collection at Indiana University.
Condition
Not examined out of the frame. This example shows some foxing and toning and small paper loss in the middle of the folded edge. Has three period stamped arrows in black highlighting a column. Frame size: h. 23" w. 26.75", Newspaper: h.16" w.19.75"
