Description
A stained glass window by Harry Horwood (1838-1917) of Prescott, reportedly from the Wiser Cottage near Brockville, Ontario. Each window has a different painted scene of cattle with mountains in the distance as well as three painted fruit panels, all within a rectangle of small coloured panes in blue, yellow, reds etc. Examples of Horwood's stained glass can be found at Upper Canada Village, the Ottawa Public Library and several Ottawa churches including Notre Dame Cathedral. Ontario, circa 1883. 40" x 32.75" x 2.25".
Condition
Slight buckling in lower half, one pane in centre lower half (pear) is cracked and has traces of green paint, one pane on lower right has been replaced with yellow glass. Some scratches on central pane. Top of window is not attached to frame and is slightly loose. Minor cracks to some of the smaller panes but nothing is loose.
