Western Asia, modern Iran, Persia, Nishapur, ca. 10th century CE. A pretty pottery bowl hand-glazed with mesmerizing, abstract decoration of vegetal and geometric motifs in emerald green, lemon yellow, and black. Nishapur was a center of politics and culture in medieval Persia, and their pottery is some of the most unique and beautiful in history. Size: 7.4" Diameter x 3" H (18.8 cm x 7.6 cm)
Provenance: private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, originally imported to the US in the early 1960s, thence by descent to present owner circa 2010s

Professionally repaired with some restoration and break lines visible in areas. Expected nicks and abrasions as shown. Otherwise, beautiful presentation with nice remaining pigments and lovely iridescence to glaze. Arabic inscription on underside of base.
